ANDREW JOVE, JR.

Good evening. My name is Andrew Love. In my work at Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory I give presentations on a variety of technical topics, but since 2000 I've given talks about science every year at Balticon. Today I'm going to be talking a bit about how science works - by creating mathematical models of phenomena and using them to make predictions, but just as importantly, to develop intuition about new situations by connecting them to well-understood old situations.
