I originally gave this talk at a science fiction convention in 2002. I decided on this topic after running into various fallacies at work and in the real world but quickly realized that I could talk for hours on the subject and still leave important information out. Since I only have one hour scheduled, I'm going to try to hit some high points and leave you with some good information. If you come away remembering a few vivid examples of bad reasoning to avoid I'll be satisfied.
